The 6 Steps for Letting Go of the Past

In times things that happen in the past shape our future and who we are but negative things happening can also keep you from being who you are. I always explain things by saying road A or road B. When something negative happens do you run to make another negative choice such as drinking or eating a carton of ice cream? How about you go to the gym and punch away on a boxing bag cook yourself some good healthy food and focus on the positive things in your life. The negatives always have a way of working themselves out by YOU CUTTING THEM OUT.

The 2010 Bodybuilding Season has begun!

The 2010 NPC season kicked off this past weekend with the World Gym Classic in San Diego, CA.  I couldn't attend due to a conflicting work schedule, but some of good friends from Orange County participated … and one placed rather well.  Actually, saying that he did "well" is an understatement as he (Zeb Beatty) took overall honors in the Novice Division and placed 2nd in the Open Super-Heavyweight Class.  What's even more impressive is the fact that the World Gym Classic was his first and only outing.

Continual Reinvention Equals Longevity

I got my bandages off this past Tuesday and while I was excited, I was also very unsure.  Unsure about what?  Let’s just way I walked into the surgeons office over a month ago with little certainty about how much I could do and how hard I could train because of my bicep’s tendon situation … and I walked out of the same surgeons office this past Tuesday with the same questions … perhaps more.

2010 Arnold - Another Great Start to the New Year!

It was cold in Columbus, but at least it wasn't freezing rain, sleet or hail, as it has been in years past.  The Arnold Classic, 2010 style, was another crazy weekend, as busy as it always is, with some new faces, and some regulars who did not make it, but overall, it was another amazing weekend!

The Expo was as it always is, wall to wall people!  A trip to the bathroom was a 20 minute adventure, a push through masses of elbows, sweaty biceps, fake boobs and brightly logo'd goodie bags...

Awesome Bday Weekend at the Arnold.

Turning 31 this past weekend made me think  back over the years and how much I have grown as a person and how exciting it is to be involved in all the things that I am.  About 7 years back I had a layout of where I wanted to be, First  helping people get in great shape and teach them the lifestyle that they could carry on with them forever.  Secondly I wanted to start my own business and write a book which last year I opened my Gym Hitch Fit here in Kansas City , strarted my Online Personal training  which now I have clients in over 22 countries and wrote

Sometimes, it's just not in the cards …

This past week has been a rough one for me, so finding the motivation to write enthusiastically is a rather tall order.  I discovered a couple months ago that I had a partially torn left biceps tendon.  I had been planning on making a comeback of sorts to pro bodybuilding, but that flame was quickly extinguished last Monday when I went in to have surgery.  The surgeon that I acquired for the procedure was, in his words, "certain" that he could successfully do the job.  WRONG!

My TOP 10 Supplements of 2010

1.   Magnum Serum (5 sources of Creatine, 5 sources of Arginine, Beta-Alanine, BCAA's, and much, much, more) … should be utilized for pre and post workout.

2.   Magnum Quattro Protein Blend (although contains egg and micellar casein proteins, it boasts a higher concentration of whey isolate protein than any other brand).

3.   USPLabs Oxy-Elite Pro (as strong as an ECA-stack, minus the risks).  Very strong stimulant.

The rules of gaining muscle mass …

Everyone talks the talk, but no one seems to understand what it takes to walk the walk when it comes to putting on quality muscle mass.  The first rule of thumb is to hit the gym hard and hit it frequently.  How frequent is frequent?  You should at the very least be utilizing a "4-on-1-off split," which will ensure that each body part is trained twice per week.  Consistency is very important  to ensure that a regular routine is established.

Change Up Your Cardio Routine

We all know that cardio exercise is important, not only for our cardiovascular health but anyone looking to lose weight doing cardio is key.  However, doing cardio might not be the most exciting activity you rush to the gym to do and if there is one thing that will make us miss spending time on the treadmill or bail from the gym completely it is getting bored with our workouts.&nb

Happy Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year!

What a beautiful day!  It has been a very wet winter here in southern California, so the unseasonal heat wave brought smiles to many faces, including mine.  It couldn't have come at a better time since today is Valentine's Day.  I hope everyone had a pleasant time with their special someone.  Today is also the beginning of the Lunar Year, which is celebrated by many Asian cultures including mine … the first time that Chinese New Year and Valentine's has fallen on the same day since 1953.

Being "farsighted" will allow you to step beyond the boundaries set by your "shortsightedness" …

Katie from Canada asks, "Bodybuilders and fitness competitors can all relate to the idea that our biggest critic is ourselves, and that the sport is about constantly improving ourselves, physically and mentally. So even though we push ourselves harder and harder and give it our all, it can be crushing feeling when our competition surpasses us because they took a short-cut. But if we take those short-cuts ourselves, even if no one else knows, deep down we know that we took the easy way.
