A Race to the Finish Line

According to surveys, getting into shape is the number one New Year's Resolution.  For all of you who have committed to shaping up as your New Year's Resolution don't be discouraged when you pull into the parking lot and you are left circling a few times before finding a spot.  Committing to getting in shape in January is a lot like running a marathon.  On the front end you will find yourself surrounded by a bunch of people competing for the same thing - a nautilus machine or a set of dumbbells.

What is your New Years Resolution?

How many times have you already been asked this question?  Another year passes and we tell ourselves "this is the year we will start working out, eating right or quit smoking".  Within weeks many fail and go back to the old habits.  Do not use a date to start a goal, use a date to finish a goal.  If it takes jan 1 for you to get off your butt and do something more then likely it will take jan 10th for you to sit right back down.

THE NEXT DECADE

I sit in my assigned seat in the photographers row beside the UFC Octagon and feel the goose bumps grow as the energy escalates. Bruce Buffer yells, "We are live!!!"

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

It's been two full days since my arrival in Houston, TX and I have yet to take a break.  I am exhausted, but there is something about being around family that makes me want to spend every second of my time awake and catching up.  My parents and siblings are healthy and happy, so Santa delivered all that I had hoped for.  Best of all, I got to hang out with my two nieces (Emma and Kate)  ...

2010 is the year to make it happen …

Listen up everyone … 2010 is "The Year of the Tiger."  Simply put, this is the year to be aggressive and MAKE IT HAPPEN.  Last year with "The Year of the Ox," it was about diligence and strength.  This played out to a "T" as many financial institutions continued to "writeoff" weakened assets, resulting in suppressed consumer confidence and spending.  While many would argue that the worse has yet to come, I am going to go out on a limb and say that it is time to have faith and aggressively pursue your dreams.

Bodybuilding is Nation Building!! 5 reasons why our lifestyle can change the world

The Brutal Truth...

Take a good long look in mirror, and what do you see?

This is the part of bodybuilding or the physique lifestyle that takes the most courage...honest, brutally sincere self-scrutinization...

If you're a physique athlete, you're driven to be better than you were yesterday, if for no other reason than the nature of our sport means stripping down to nothing more than a tiny little skivvies to stand on-stage in front of the judges and the rest of the world, for the world to scrutinize, nit-pik and compare...

GOJI BERRIES

Goji Berries - A Nutritional Super-Antioxidant High Protein Berry

Have you seen those things in the health food stores that look like shriveled up mini RED raisins? They are called "Goji Berries" and they are one of the highest antioxidant berries you can find on the planet. They may also be called "Wolfberries" and come from Asia, in places like China, Mongolia and the Himalayas, where they have been consumed and used as a medicine for thousands of years.

WHY CARDIO ALONE DOESN'T WORK

Why Cardio Alone Doesn't Work

Cardio certainly has its place in every fitness program but it should be a part of a balanced program including cardio, strength training, and a healthy diet. The key to losing body fat and keeping it off is strength training. Lean muscle is the driving force behind your metabolism and the only way to increase your metabolism or burn more calories at rest, is to increase lean muscle through strength training. For the women that are afraid to get "too bulky" from strength training that is simply a myth.

EDITOR'S LETTER SPRING 2009

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer months. The days are longer giving all of us opportunity to family, friends, and all the activities that go along with it. In order to fully maximize these opportunities make sure you take time to take care of yourself.  Prepare healthy and tasty foods, drink lots of water and be active both physically and mentally.

I received many emails refereeing to last issue’s article on hydration by Cory Holly.  Most people are aware that water is important to one’s health, but not to the extent described by Cory.
