There are some quotes that can completely shift how you approach life in thought, understanding, and action. One of the quotes that have completely changed my perspective is, “What You Choose to Feed Will Grow”. Although the origins of this quote are unclear, its impact on the way we can choose to approach life is unparalleled when the meaning is understood. Sometimes we get so hyper-focused on an end goal, that it becomes challenging to understand why we haven’t yet achieved it.
Whether you’re a bodybuilder who feels far away from your pro card, you’re a parent who feels weight loss is impossible to lead the life you truly want with your children, or you’re the person who constantly compares your physique to your friends; what you choose to feed will grow.
Our mindset is the most powerful tool that we often overlook in helping us achieve what we want. We think we are missing something and fall into the trap of buying unnecessary tools for our journey, thinking this one missing piece is going to bring us the success we’ve yearned for until something else catches our eye to continue these thoughts of inadequacy. This pattern feeds the perception of not having the tools we need within us for the success that we desire. As we continue to buy into this belief, we are feeding the thought process that we don’t have what we need inside of us to achieve the result we want, which in turn, never allows us to get to our end goal.
Our mindset is the most powerful tool that we often overlook in helping us achieve what we want.
I want you to take a few moments to think about how many situations in your life you are feeding thoughts & actions that are pushing you in the opposite direction you want to go. How many times have you said you wanted to achieve “X Goal”, yet your efforts are being put towards something that doesn’t serve you? This could be things like negative self-talk, compulsive buying, comparison, self-doubt, and avoiding the tasks you know need to get done.
The truth is, we all do this in some way, at some point in our journey. There’s work or behaviour we’re avoiding for reasons we sometimes don’t understand. If I have learned anything in my career of working with hundreds of clients & personalities looking to achieve their desired health & fitness goals, it’s that for some odd reason, we push ourselves away from the things that are going to bring us so much happiness and success. It’s subliminal self-sabotage that many of us can’t put our finger on, but even if we can’t get to the exact belief that’s holding us back, we can be self-aware in what we choose to feed.
I hope that this quote impacts you in a way that creates a shift in your perspective and the approach you take in achieving the goals that matter most to you. Your mind is always going to be the most influential tool in creating the success you desire and it’s up to you to decide what you choose to feed in this lifetime. Are you going to choose to feed the actions & thought processes of a champion or are you going to feed negativity and self-sabotage? Both choices will create a life-changing impact; the power lies in your decision to feed what you want to grow.
